Our Thursday tourism included a melange of sightseeing, starting with churches, including St. John's. The style is much simpler than but just as beautiful as the highly decorated churches we have seen elsewhere in Europe.
Always on the lookout for socks and mittens, although the hot weather kind of diminishes interest in heavy knitted goods.
The highlight of the day was meeting with friends who were Mike's students in Prague last summer. Andris, Juris, Elina and Boriss are all very bright, highly capable and great fun. Andris will is going to Boston next year to study for his MBA at Babson; Juis is working in finance in Riga before he decides his next move; Elina will complete her bachelor's degree in France; and Boriss will study for his master's in economics at the Central European University in Budapest. It was a pleasure to see them again.
We had dinner at an atmospheric medieval cellar restaurant, lit only by candelight, featuring foods and recipes of the 14th century.
