Hot Times in Vilnius

It's 90 degrees today and everyone agrees that's hot. It makes the beer taste that much better. Vilnius is much different than Riga; it doesn't feel as medieval or as Nordic. The Old Town is still (sensibly) a walking area, which is good for tourists. Additionally, Vilnius has free wireless Internet access in the central city -- very sensible.

But the treasure was Ludmila and her hand-knit lace shawls, which she sells for the equivalent of $35-$75. A Lithuanian-American couple and a Russian woman helped me speak with Ludmila, who said the yarn comes from goats from Russia. Sue said "Orenburg?" and Ludmila nodded and said, "Orenburg."
